Adding products

HidsApp has a simple inventory system that allows you to add your products, their details, varieties and locations, as well as manage their temporary states without complication.

It is not recommended to add products until after having configured the premises.

To add a new product go to the Products section of the Inventory area of ​​the side menu of the application. Then click the Add product or Add here buttons (to insert directly into a category), which will display a window indicating all the product information. This process is divided into 6 tabs, which are filled out optionally according to the characteristics of the product and the preferences of the client.

These tabs or sections are:

  1. Details
  2. Varieties
  3. Formats
  4. Extras
  5. Gallery
  6. Locations

Details tab

In this tab you will find the most basic and mandatory aspects to fill out for each product. The other tabs do not have required fields. The following fields are available to enter product data:

  • Name
  • Description: text or short descriptive paragraph of the characteristics and specifications of the product.
  • Active: mark this check if you want the product to appear in the indicated stores; unchecking it will make it disappear from all stores and be removed from search indices.
  • Used: mark this check if it is a non-perishable second-hand product or one that has already been used.
  • Brand: Declare the brand here if you are not the manufacturer of the product.
  • Sector: although your business belongs to a specific commercial sector, it is possible that you sell varied products that belong to other sectors, so you can specify this information here.
  • Category: This is the internal category to which the product belongs. If the Add button is used here, it is not necessary to edit this value since it will appear already selected.
  • Type: specify whether it is a product, service, location, information, donation, video or audio. For every type, different options will be shown in the application.

The product price information must also be specified, for which it is recommended to use the following fields:

  • Base: (optional) this is the net price of the product, that is, without taxes or discounts. It is very useful to keep this value as a reference and to make the calculations from it.
  • Tax: (optional) the percentage tax that applies to the product; you can leave it at 0 or blank if you do not apply tax for the product.
  • Discount: (optional) the percentage discount that applies to the product; you can leave 0 or blank if the product is not subject to discounts.
  • Price: (required) this is the final value of the product, that is, with taxes and discounts included.
  • Unit: the unit of measure used for the sale of the product (unit, kilo, liter, etc.).
  • Maximum: maximum quantity of the product that can be added to the cart in the same moment; you should leave blank if you don't want to restrict the number of units that can be purchased.
  • No input: check this box if you do not want to offer the option for adding products in batch. Users will not be able to specify in a single step the amount of product they want but will have to do it one by one.
  • Precision: if you allow batch input, you can limit the input to integer or decimal values.

For services you can set whether it is a scheduleable service or not. If so, it must specify the duration of the service in minutes and if it should be assigned to the product itself, to a space or distribution of the premises, or to a person or employee. It is also possible to allow overbooking, which is the number of extra bookings that can be allowed in the same space of time; 1 overbooking means that 2 services are allowed at the same time.

For donations you can specify if you accept a minimum amount.

If you are defining new prices, HidsApp also makes it easy for you to calculate the values ​​through 2 calculation buttons that will help you calculate the final price from the base price or calculate the discount from the final price.

  • Calculate price button: If you have a base price, tax value and discount percentage, this button can calculate the final price based on these parameters.
  • Calculate discount button: if you are setting prices by eye and you know the base price and the final price, you can easily know what discount you are applying by means of this button that will calculate the discount between both values.

Product image

For a successful sale, the main image of the product is very important, which you can add through two simple steps. Click on the Select file button, then browse and choose the image of your choice in png or jpg format, and once the file is selected, click on the blue upload button located on the far right, which will trigger the upload of the file to the cloud. The system will confirm when the process is complete through the respective notifications.

Force action

In the metaverse the normal behavior after touching a product is its selection. This behavior can be changed to include another action by selecting an option in the select field. It can be choosen among opening the product description in a modal, showing a text content (if associated), open the link, open the image gallery, play the video, play audio, or show the associated 3D model.

Varieties tab

Varieties are variants of the same product that do not change in price. As an example we could use the flavors of ice cream or the colors of a cell phone, characteristics that may vary but in most cases do not change the price of the product. Specifying the varieties will be of great help so that the client does not have to ask for the available varieties via WhatsApp and the order naturally includes this information.

To add a variety, just write the name of the variety (color, flavor, etc.) and press the Add button located on the right. This will insert the array at the bottom as a tag or label and you can edit its color or status. This tag has 4 actions:

  • A delete x on the left that allows you to delete the variety.
  • A lightening x on the right that allows you to erase the chosen color (it returns to black).
  • An activity check that when checked establishes this variety as exhausted or inactive.
  • A color box to set the color of the variety.

You can use the Copy and Paste buttons on the right to copy and paste varieties between different products, for example products that use the same colors or flavors, reducing the need to repeat the entire process for each product.

The Maximum Varieties Selection box allows you to set a limit to the number of varieties that can be chosen in each product addition. Most of the time a maximum of 1 variety per product is reasonable, but this depends on each particular situation. If the product is offered in different formats or sizes, this box can be left blank and the limits can be specified individually for each format.

Formats tab

The formats are variants of the same product, but with different prices. For example, we can have the same food but with a personal or family size, or the same cell phone with 64 GB or 128 GB of memory, each capacity with a different price. Formats avoid the need to create a new product for each variant, and help to more efficiently use space in the online store.

To add a format, write the name of the variety (size, size, capacity, etc.) in the corresponding box and press the Add button located on the right. The format will be added to the list and will allow you to add the other details:

  • Color
  • Prices: including tax, discounts and final value.
  • Out of stock: mark this check if the format is out of stock or not available.
  • Maximum varieties (vars): maximum number of varieties that can be requested with the format.

The maximum varieties box is very useful when the product is sold in a way that interrelates the formats with the varieties, for example: a company sells ice cream cones with 10 flavors and 3 sizes (single, double or triple), so that an ice cream product is created in a cone with 10 varieties of flavors and 3 formats for sizes; the single format allows 1 variety, the double format 2 varieties and the triple format 3 flavor varieties. In this way, the size of the presentation is integrated with the variety of flavors.

Extras tab

Additions are ingredients, extras or accessories that can be added to the main product and that can be offered in this section for convenience and speed of purchase. Declaring add-ons increases the chance that users will carry more related products in the same purchase, especially when the price of the add-on in combination with the product is cheaper than buying the add-on individually.

To add an extra write the name in the corresponding box and press the Add button located on the right. This will add the extra to the list and you can specify other details such as color, condition and price of the addition. Similarly, you can specify a maximum number of additions to the product in the Maximum selection of additions box, preventing users from marking an indefinite number of extras.

Gallery tab

Many times the display of a single image of the product may be insufficient, so in this section many other images can be added, which will be displayed when visitors touch the main image, allowing them to view images with information, detail and perspective different from the one shown. cover image.

To add images, you only need to press the file selection button, which will open a window for said selection. Once you have chosen the image in jpg or png format, click the blue upload button, which will start the image upload. Once the process is complete, a thumbnail of the image will be added to the corresponding space. There you can delete the image in case of mistake or update.

Locations tab

The creation of the product is incomplete if its availability in the premises is not specified. By default, the product is not activated in any location, until it is indicated in this section in which locations it should appear.

If the product will be available in all stores, you can click on the Add all button. If there are several stores and the product will not be available in all of them, it can be indicated manually with the [+] and [-] buttons located on the right side, which allow the product to be added or removed from the store in question.

3D Model tab

This feature is only available in the metaverse version. You can add one 3D model per product in glb or gltf format. Select the file and upload with the blue button. Users will see the model in the metaverse version of the site.
